Photo via http://ow.ly/oPPS30cAGSO

It's tough to decide what I love most about summer. One of my favorite things to do is work in my garden on a warm day with the birds chirping all around me. I also love taking early morning walks with my best friend and enjoying all the new blooms showing up around the neighborhood. People just seem to be happier during the warm weather months, don't you agree? I took some time this week to look up some quotes that convey how I feel about this lovely season.

June's Birthflower: The Romantic Rose

Photo via http://ow.ly/Jt1z30cpaYi

I like so many things about the month of June. One of those things is its official flower, the rose. Roses are a familiar sight at many weddings and celebrations, but I've found they are especially popular with June brides. Roses are available in so many different colors that brides have no problem finding exactly what they want. My blog this week is a celebration of the flower favored by many famous writers including William Shakespeare. '…That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet…' - Juliet of Romeo and Juliet.

Corsage & Boutonniere Alternatives for Those With Allergies

In late May, multiple sightings of teenagers dressed in tuxedos and gowns are a sure sign it's prom season. I've seen them, have you? Along with their fancy outfits, many teens wear the traditional corsages and boutonnieres. These flowers are also a familiar sight on the lapels, wrists, and gowns of a wedding party. But, what if you're allergic to flowers? The good news is you can still wear an attractive corsage or boutonniere for prom, a wedding, and other formal occasions.

Every time I see a lily of the valley, I'm reminded that spring is in full swing and summer is just around the corner. The official flower of May is hard to overlook, with its distinctive white, bell-shaped flowers and lovely fragrance. Look at one closely and you'll notice the scalloped edges on the petals of this unique flower. My post this week is written in appreciation of a bloom sometimes called the May lily.

I'm partial to dog parks because I like to see my dog Basil jumping around and having a blast with other pooches. But there are plenty of other area parks perfect for whatever you'd like to do.
