April's Birthflower: The Darling Daisy

Photo via http://ow.ly/10mb4C

I love to look at the yellow Gerbera daisies in my garden. They are so cheerful and bright. It's no wonder that the daisy is the official flower of the month of April. I have a friend who had a baby last week, and I took a vase of daisies to her in the hospital. She put them in the window of her room so she could admire them from her bed. I've found that daisies are right at home in almost any type of bouquet. Since April is the month for daisies, I thought I'd spend a little time focusing on this lovely bloom. Enjoy!

The Beneficial Effects Of Fruits And Vegetables On The Human Body

Photo via http://ow.ly/100wgV

Most people understand the importance of eating fresh vegetables and fruits each day. Personally, I love eating cantaloupe for breakfast and a colorful broccoli salad for lunch. Though I take a multivitamin each day, I know that there is no substitute for eating fresh fruits and vegetables. When you eat fresh fruits and veggies, you're getting calcium, fiber, amino acids, and proteins in their purest form. Vitamins can't always supply you with these and other important nutrients. Check out the benefits of vitamins you can get from your diet that contribute to a healthy body.

The daffodil is the official flower of March. I can't think of a better choice, can you? Daffodils are one of my favorites because they are hardy blooms with a delicate appearance. I walked outside my home the other day to see a light covering of snow on a patch of daffodils near a tree. I had to admire them for pushing to get the spring season under way! Air Plants: The Latest Trend In Houseplants

Photo via http://ow.ly/YoIaE

When you think of the typical houseplant, you may picture a light green fern with dozens of dangling fronds. Or perhaps you envision a colorful African violet flourishing in a small container on your coffee table. But for your next houseplant, why not go with an unconventional option? Tillandsdia, also known as air plants, are growing in popularity with people who want attractive houseplants that require very little attention. February's Birthflowers: The Vivacious Violet & The Pristine Primrose

Photo via dichohecho (Flickr)

The short month of February has two beautiful birth flowers: the violet and the primrose. This pair of delicate flowers serves as a reminder to me that spring will be arriving soon. Each February, I like to throw a "soon-to-be-spring party" for my friends. I always put a purple tablecloth on my dining room table along with several vases of violets. They give a springy feel to my entire apartment. So for my blog this week, I did a little research to learn more about these two February blooms. Enjoy!
